UUID Generator
Generate random v4 UUIDs (Universally Unique Identifiers) instantly.
How to Use This Tool
- Choose how many UUIDs you want to generate (1 to 20).
- Click "Generate" to create a new batch of unique identifiers.
- Click "Copy" next to any UUID to copy it individually.
- Click "Copy All" to copy all generated UUIDs to your clipboard.
How It Works
This tool generates version 4 UUIDs (UUID v4) using the browser's built-in crypto.randomUUID() API, which produces cryptographically random identifiers. A UUID v4 is 128 bits long and formatted as 32 hexadecimal digits in the pattern xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. The probability of generating the same UUID twice is astronomically small.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a UUID used for?
UUIDs are used as unique identifiers in databases, distributed systems, file naming, API tokens, and anywhere you need an ID that is globally unique without a central authority.
Is it safe to use these UUIDs in production?
Yes. This tool uses crypto.randomUUID() which is cryptographically secure and suitable for production use.
What is the difference between UUID v1 and UUID v4?
UUID v1 is generated from the current timestamp and the device's MAC address. UUID v4 is generated from random numbers. UUID v4 is preferred when you do not want to embed timing or machine information in the identifier.
